I do love having Christmas at home, just us. With little kids it's easier and more relaxing to be in our own space and not have to worry about traveling and packing and keeping kids entertained or out of things. We are home and spending time together and it's just great.
Christmas Eve we baked lots of sugar cookies. We took them to a few single sisters in our neighborhood.
For our Christmas Eve devotional we had a lesson on the gifts that the Savior gives us and the gifts we can give him. Paul read the Christmas story in Luke and the kids dressed up in our nativity costumes. Then we unwrapped new jammies and had some yummy snacks while watching Ben Hur!
Before bed we put out some treats for Santa and the reindeer and then tucked the kids all in the same room. They didn't sleep much!
Santa came! We told the kids 6:00am was the earliest we were getting up but conceded at 5:45. Santa brought Timmy a Kylo Ren talking plush, Braden got laser tag guns (these are so fun), Clark got a lego pirate ship, and Susie got a leotard and enrollment in gymnastics.
Paul got lots of books and movies which is just what he always wants. I've been working secretly on this quilt for Susie and I was so happy with how it turned out.
My mom surprised my siblings and I, each with our own canvas copy of a painting she has been working on for over a year. We didn't know anything about it, or that she could paint like that! I know she used to paint before she had young children. She had an art teacher come to the house and give her tips. It is of the 5 of her children in front of the Golden Gate, a place that holds a lot of meaning for us. It's pretty priceless, I love it.
We had some fun planned for New Years. On New Years Eve we watched a slideshow of the year and had a countdown and balloon drop. We toasted to the new year with some Martinelli's and sent the kids to bed by 8 haha.
We got donuts at Bowman's on New Years day and played the donut on a string game. We played "save the children" too with sour patch kids on the bottom of a mountain of whipped cream. Both are fun games to watch! Here's to 2021!
